Dallas, Texas - December 11, 2006 – Tagnetics Inc., provider of innovative Electronic Shelf Label Systems for retail, announced today that it has successfully deployed its next generation Electronic Shelf Label (ESL). The company's ESL solution, built on proven Inductive Coupling technology, incorporates the latest advancements in semiconductor and LCD display technology. The ESL product, which replaces paper shelf labels, has been enhanced to deliver expanded features and performance at a significantly lower cost than other shelf label solutions.
Tagnetics' ESL technology improves pricing accuracy while dramatically lowering the labor cost required to implement price changes. At the same time, Tagnetics offers an expanded set of features that increase the overall value to retailers and shortens the return on investment. The key to these improvements is Tagnetics’ patented Inductive Coupling technology which allows for both power and two way communication to be inductively transmitted to the shelf label. The result is an extremely reliable low cost wireless label that operates without batteries.
The heart of Tagnetics’ new ESL is a custom Integrated Circuit (IC) which was completely redesigned from the ground up to facilitate a wide array of new features and performance improvements. In addition, the small geometry process used to fabricate the new IC allows it to be smaller, faster and more power efficient at a substantially lower cost than its predecessor. ESL modules built with the new IC are assembled in a world class clean room environment and are fully programmed and tested before being shipped to the installation site. Tagnetics’ own store team handles the full turn-key installation and user training.
The first deployment of Tagnetics’ new ESL technology included over 14,000 next generation ESLs and was installed in a Dallas, Texas area grocery retail store. The system also includes Tagnetics' wireless area controllers, Tagnetics' store controller software and Tagnetics' hand held terminal software. "We listened to our customers and gave them what they want." said Ronald Earley, Tagnetics President and COO. "The new product is performing well and our customer is delighted."
